Don’t Drink Your Calories!

Vitamin enhanced flavored waters and sodas can contain 100 calories per serving. With only 48 calories per serving, ProFuse is the healthy alternative!
Snack Smart!
Are you a snacker?! A healthy snack between meals is fine. Snacks can keep blood sugar steady as well as allow you to rack up more servings of fruits and vegetables.
Don’t snack in place of meals. It’s too easy to lose track of what, and how much you’re eating. Try a shot of profuse mixed in with lowfat yogurt for a fulfilling mid-day snack.

Help Your Kids Stay in Shape This Summer
Get your kids moving this summer! Exercising can be as easy as tossing a ball with neighborhood friends or swimming in the backyard pool. Whatever your plans are this summer, don’t forget to include healthy snacks and activities to keep your kids in shape!
Here are some great ideas for incorporating activity and nutrition into your summer routine.
Pay Attention to the Protein Package
Protein is an important part of any diet. But what comes with your protein is equally important. Fat and calories need to be considered too.
Each one ounce serving of profuse is fat fee and only 48 calories. This is a healthy way to add protein to your diet and avoid unwanted sugar, calories and fat.
Read the full article here published by Harvard regarding the importance of knowing what else you’re getting besides just protein in the things you eat.
Be Smart About 100 Calorie Packs
“Single serving items are very trendy right now. While controlling portions is important, the reality is that 100-calorie packs of cookies and chips provide relatively no nutritional value and often leaves us unsatisfied” sites Fox News Health.
Remember to focus on nutrition. Our bodies need protein and vitamins to ward off cravings. Many single serving items don’t site fat content. A single serving of peanut butter has up to 14 grams of fat. Keep this in mind when paring your snacks.
For an easy, on-the-go snack, ProFuse now comes in portable 2 ounce bottles.

It’s hot this summer! Remember to take a break and get out of the sun. Giving your body time to cool down is important. If you’re working outdoors, going for a run or just enjoying a day at the beach keeping hydrated is a top priority. Drink plenty of fluids! Remember to pack a 2 oz. shot of ProFuse in your beach bag or gym bag and you’ll be ready for a full day of being on the go!
Eat More Protein!
Carb Up! Before running, exercise or sporting events athletes typically load up on carbs. It’s what we’ve been taught to do. The International Society of Sports Nutrition recently released a paper on protein and exercise. Their message is this: “People who engage in regular exercise, like runners, don’t just need more calories than desk jockeys, they need more protein. Athletes who get insufficient amounts of protein are at a higher risk of injury.”
The article targets runners but is applicable to every form of exercise from tennis to football players, strength training to swimming. “Protein is what keeps your body healthy under strain. Adequate protein intake accelerates muscle growth and speeds recovery by helping to rebuild stressed muscle fibers.”
The article provides a sample diet. Consider ProFuse before and after your workout in place of the protein sports drink. This will eliminate the unnecessary sugar from your diet and provide Vitamins B12 and D3 for a natural energy boost.
What’s more, high-protein intake has been shown to help maintain a strong immune system. “After an intense bout of exercise, your immune system is weakened for about four to five hours,” says Richard Kreider, Ph.D., one of the ISSN study’s authors and head of the Exercise and Nutrition Laboratory at Baylor University. “Military research studies show that Marines who ingested high amounts of protein had fewer medical visits than those with lower protein intake.”
Taking Steps to Stop Childhood Obesity
“I know most of you are aware of the alarming rate of childhood obesity in our country, but did you know that no U.S. generation has raised children who are likely to have a shorter lifespan than their parents—until now? A recent study found that approximately 80 percent of children who were overweight at ages 10–15 were obese adults at age 25. And we know that obesity is linked to a variety of health problems, including heart disease, diabetes and even certain cancers—all major factors contributing to early death.”
Tanya Zuckerbrot a dietician who works with overweight and obese children writes for FoxNews.com and points to inactivity and poor food choices as being the primary cause.
“The key to a healthy school lunch is to limit the saturated fat and sugar (cookies and French fries are not every day foods! They are treats and should be eaten sparingly.) “
Substituting ProFuse for sugar filled sports drinks is a good way to improve the quality of what your children eat and drink this summer!

The Food Pyramid
We all learned the food group pyramid in elementary school, but do you remember what it is and why it is important? The USDA’s interactive website is a great resource for tracking your food and nutrient intake in addition to having tools to help plan a healthy diet for you and your family.
Weight Loss Boosts Vitamin D Levels
Researchers have again linked lower Vitamin D levels with diabetes, heart disease and Cancer.
“Since vitamin D is generally lower in persons with obesity, it is possible that low vitamin D could account, in part, for the link between obesity and diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes,” study author Caitlin Mason, a postdoctoral research fellow, said in a Hutchinson news release.
ProFuse is such an easy way to boost your Vitamin D intake and encourage good health!

How To Eat Healthy This Summer
If you’re heading to a bar-b-que, the beach or lake this weekend with family or friends, you can eat right and still enjoy the party! Follow these simple strategies to stay healthy while still enjoying your summertime favorites.
- Beware of drinking all of your calories. A pina colada or daiquiri (7 ounces) can contain over 500 calories and over 17 grams of fat. Drinks that are mixed with cream, milk, fruit juice or soda can pack more calories so take that into account when ordering.
- Budget your fats. If you know you want to order fried shrimp, strip the fat from your breakfast and lunch meals so you have room for extra fat in the evening. Just make sure you don’t skip breakfast and lunch altogether.
- Balance a dessert by choosing a low-calorie entrée paired with colorful fruits and vegetables instead of pastas, rice or potatoes. Plan to split larger meals with someone else to save some calories.
- Plan an after-meal activity such as a beach volleyball game after breakfast, waterskiing after lunch, or a sunset walk after dinner. This not only will burn calories but also help you limit heavier food choices at the meal knowing you are going to be active afterward.

Eat a High-Protein Breakfast – Eat Less Later!
People who eat a healthy breakfast — especially one high in protein — are more full and are less hungry throughout the day, U.S. researchers found.
Heather Leidy, an assistant professor at the University of Missouri, says people may have an easier time preventing weight gain by eating a healthy, protein-rich breakfast.
“Everyone knows that eating breakfast is important, but many people still don’t make it a priority,” Leidy says in a statement. “This research provides additional evidence that breakfast is a valuable strategy to control appetite and regulate food intake.”
Try mixing ProFuse with a glass of orange juice or adding it to yogurt for a healthy protein rich breakfast.

Higher Doses of Vitamin D3 Reduce the Risk of Health Concerns
Vitamin D3 is a bone and muscle health basic, but it does so much more:
- Promotes healthy energy levels and endurance
- Maintains a strong imune system
- Supports cognitive function and brain health
- Supports a healthy heart and cardiovascular system
- Promotes healthy mood and wellbeing throught the year
Vitamin D3 is one of the most useful nutritional tools for improving overall health. Deficiency has been linked to a host of conditions such as high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and an increased risk of pre-eclampsia and insulin resistance during pregnancy. Most recently, low Vitamin D3 levels have been linked to an increased prevalence of early age-related macular degeneration.
ProFuse supplies the much needed Vitamin D3 your body needs to stay strong and healthy. Make ProFuse a part of your everyday healthy routine!
Mike Golic from ESPN’s Mike & Mike in the Morning talks about ProFuse
Former NFL player Mike Golic knows how to work hard – and play hard. Having played with the Houston Oilers, Philadelphia Eagles and the Miami Dolphins, Mike knows how to get maximum performance from his body.
But even athletes like Mike Golic need an extra boost. Mike sat down with PGA player DJ Trahan after a round of golf and listen to what he had to say:
Going 18 holes I kinda run out of energy. (to DJ) What did you give me today to give me some energy? A little ProFuse, berry flavor I had today. It was phenomenal – gave me a little jump, gave me the energy. Usually by hole 13 or 14 I’m wearing down. But I felt good – I felt good!
Everyone needs a boost of energy – at the gym, mid-day in the office, or chasing after the kids. ProFuse is the perfect healthy pick-me-up and the ideal boost of energy to help you make it through your day and still feel great!
See the full interview with Mike Golic and DJ Trahan here on the ProFuse Youtube Channel.
Eating right is important and making small adjustments to you diet can make a big difference in your health.
Here are some ideas about how to get started:
- Choose whole-grain bread instead of white bread.
- Have a piece of fruit instead of a candy bar.
- Try to eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Add one or two servings of fruits and vegetables to your day. Slowly add more servings until you are eating at least 5 servings a day.
- Switch from 2% or whole milk to 1% or nonfat milk.
- Instead of meat, have fish for dinner. Brush it with olive oil, and broil or grill it.
- Switch from butter to a cholesterol-lowering soft spread. Use olive or canola oil for cooking.
- Use herbs and spices, instead of salt, to add flavor to foods.
It may take some time to get used to new tastes and habits, but don’t give up. Keep in mind the good things you are doing for your heart and your overall health.
What Are Amino Acids?
We hear so much about supplements, sports drinks and health foods containing amino acids. But do you know why your body needs them?
Amino acids contained in protein are categorized as Essential (Indispensable), Non-essential (Dispensable) and Conditionally Essential (Conditionally Indispensable). Here are a description of each:
Indispensable Amino Acids (IAA; aka essential amino acids) are not produced by the body & must be obtained through dietary intake.
Dispensable Amino Acids (DAA; aka non-essential amino acids) are produced in sufficient amounts by the body under normal healthy conditions.
Conditionally Indispensable Amino Acids (CIAA; aka conditional essential amino acids) amino acids are produced in sufficient amounts by healthy individuals. Stress conditions such as protein energy malnutrition, post bariatric surgery and pressure ulcers plus wounds or other trauma conditions, the amounts produced may not meet the need and additional amounts must be obtained through dietary intake.
Pretty Scientific – but here are the facts. We need amino acids to maintain optimal health. But our bodies don’t produce all the essential amino acids we need. For good health and well being, it is necessary to supplement our intake of amino acids.
ProFuse is the ideal suppliment. It contains the necessary amino acids our bodies need – and it tastes great!

“A recent study from theAmerican Journal of Clinical Nutrition compared beverage intake and weight changes in more than 800 men and women ages 25 to 79. The research found that when subjects cut 100 calories of liquids from their diets, they lost more weight than when they had cut 100 calories in the form of food. That said, do you know how many calories you’re drinking?”
ProFuse is an excellent way to flavor your water and replace those high calorie diet busters, with the added benefits of protein, vitamin D3 and B12.

What Makes Protein Essential to a Healthier You
Protein supplies the essential building blocks which every human body needs daily. In combination with carbohydrates and nutrients, protein stimulates performance. What is important to remember, is that our bodies are constantly breaking down protein.
There are so many benefits to higher protein intake:
- Helps to reduce body fat mass
- Supplies longer lasting energy
- Helps to reduce food cravings
- Supports the immune system
- Helps maintain strength & healthy muscle function
- Helps to maintain a normal blood sugar level
- Helps recover faster from exercise
- Supports healthy body composition
Some proteins need more time to digest than others and often the body has a reduced ability to digest larger molecules of protein. This can cause digestive issues and protein energy malnutrition.
The hydrolyzed protein in ProFuse is already broken down for quick and easy absorption into the body mimicing the natural digestive process. ProFuse is an easy way to reinforce positve maintenance of your healthy body!
Higher Levels of Vitamin D Needed to Reduce Risk of Type 2 Diabetes
Researchers have those with lower than average vitamin D levels have a 57 percent increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared to people with levels in the recommended range.
Dr. Claude Gagnon of Western Hospital at the Universit of Melborne in Australia, has found that higher blood levels of vitamin D higher than what is recommended for bone health may be necessary to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Vitamin D has also been linked to lower risks of asthma, heart disease, and certain cancers.

Small Changes can mean BIG Energy!
Do you find that even after 8 hours sleep, you’re dragging come mid afternoon. You may be surprised to learn that the “morning rush” could have something to do with it.
So why does the morning rush let you down? According to researchers at Duke University Medical Center, both sudden activity and caffeine kick-up your blood pressure and stress hormones, giving you a quick feeling of alertness and energy. But these adrenaline-producing tactics are short-lived. Once the mayhem is over, it’s crash time.
Try substituting an ounce of ProFuse in some fresh orange juice as an alternative to coffee. The Vitamins D3 and B12 will give you the energy needed for a productive, and healthy day!

Higher Vitamin D Intake Needed to Reduce Cancer Risk
Reasearches have found that a markedly higher intake of vitamin D is needed to reach blood levels that can prevent or markedly cut the incidence of breast cancer and several other major diseases than had been originally thought.
“We found that daily intakes of vitamin D by adults in the range of 4000-8000 IU are needed to maintain blood levels of vitamin D metabolites in the range needed to reduce by about half the risk of several diseases – breast cancer, colon cancer, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 diabetes,” said Cedric Garland, DrPH, professor of family and preventive medicine at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center. “I was surprised to find that the intakes required to maintain vitamin D status for disease prevention were so high – much higher than the minimal intake of vitamin D of 400 IU/day that was needed to defeat rickets in the 20th century.”
ProFuse is the ideal solution to increasing your intake of Vitamin D! Every ounce contains 1000 IU of essential Vitmain D to help promote and maintain a healthy body – and, it tastes great too!

Is what you’re drinking to boost your energy doing more harm than good?
Did you know the FDA limits the amount of caffeine in found in soft drinks but not the amount of caffeine in coffee, tea or energy drinks? The typical energy drink contains the same amount of caffeine as the same size cup of coffee. The difference in consumption, according to Barbara Crouch, the head of Utah’s Poison Control center is this: “people don’t typically ‘gulp’ coffee like they do energy drinks of shots. This leads them (people) to accumulate higher concentrations of caffeine more quickly, which can cause anxiousness, palpitations and “more significant heart-rhythm disturbances.” She also worries about young athletes drinking them because they are dehydrating.
ProFuse is caffeine free!
Packed with Vitamin B12, ProFuse is a healthy, safe and effective way to boost energy and feel great!

O’Donnell and Weise include in their article this startling find:
The American Association of Poison Control Centers, which started coding for energy drinks this year, received 340 reports about energy drinks from January through March 3. Most were minor. A recent report in Pediatrics warned about links between caffeine in energy drinks, high blood pressure, increased alcohol consumption and even addiction among young people.
Reports of people, including teens, with serious medical problems after consuming energy drinks are on the rise.

Protein Really is a Prescription for Weight Loss
This article in Women’s Health highlights the importance of protein for losing weight. Protein makes you feel full faster and requires more calories to burn. Your body uses the amino acids in protein to build lean muscle so the weight you are losing is fat. Dr. Kruskall, the director of nutrition sciences at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, reminds us that not all proteins are the same. Complete proteins that contain all 9 essential amino acids are what is needed most for weight loss. The protein found in ProFuse contains all the 9 essential amino acids needed by your body to burn calories while maintaining lean body mass and increasing energy.
One ounce of ProFuse 3 times a day encourages and supports weigh loss while providing Vitamins D3 and B12 needed to boost energy. Each serving contains 10 complete grams of protein and all 9 essential amino acids, as well as non-essential amino acids, that promote a healthy lifestyle.

Pediatricians, parents warned on energy drink dangers
They claim to give you that extra boost, but recent studies have shown that energy drinks containing large amounts of caffeine and other stimulants, can actually cause major health problems in children, teens and young adults. In fact, according to the American Association of Poison Control Centers, of the 5,448 U.S. caffeine overdoses reported in 2007, 46% occurred in those younger than 19 years. Now a new report in the journal of Pediatrics warns parents, and doctors that these drinks could be especially dangerous to children with ADHD, diabetes, sleep issues and eating disorders. Sluggish? Confused? Vitamin B12 May Be Low
“Tired? Depressed? Forgetting things? Who isn’t these days? Those are also symptoms of a deficiency of B12 a key nutrient needed to make red blood cells and DNA and keep the nervous system working right.”
Beck reports Dr. Alan Pocinki, an internist in Washington D.C., as saying, “B12 deficiency is much more common than the textbooks and journal articles say it is.” He tests many of his patients for B12 deficiency and sites a recent connection between Metformin ( a Type 2 diabetes medication ) and B12 deficiency. “(Some physicians) assume that if patients complain of numbness and tingling in the feet, it’s a diabetes issue and not a B12 issue.”
“Other symptoms of low B12 include anemia, depression, dementia, confusion, loss of appetite and balance problems. long-term deficiency can bring sever anemia, nerve damage and neurological changes that may be irreversible.” reports Beck.
ProFuse contains 1000 mcg of Vitamin B12 and is designed to provide energy and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Make ProFuse a daily part of meeting your 2011 goals!
